Collaborative Governance Graduate Certificate: Why PSU? Students taking courses in the Graduate Certificate for Collaborative Governance are a mix of matriculating graduate students (government service, education, and social work) and current working professionals who are tasked with working collaboratively in their jobs.
What is Collaborative Governance? Definition of Collaborative Governance: A process and a form governance in which participants (parties, agencies, stakeholders) representing different interests are collectively empowered to make a policy decision or make recommendations to a final decision-maker who will not substantially change consensus recommendations from the group. The existence of such focal points is reinforcing the turn to cross‐sector partnerships as an important mechanism for achieving development goals. Thus, scholars of development, governance, collective action, and business strategy all have a stake in contributing to greater understanding of collaborative governance and its implications.
